Do you think that you read the title wrong? You did not. The most fit people on the planet are usually athletes, and have you ever seen them diet? No, because sometimes diets are fads, temporary fixes to get someone down or up in weight. The reason that athletes do not diet is because they have made eating healthy and exercise a lifestyle choice, a permanent and fixed part of their everyday lives. Being healthy isn’t about dealing with crash diet pain until you are magically past some proverbial hurdle that marks your success. Being healthy and fit is much like life, it is a journey, not a destination.
If you truly want to stay fit, the best thing you can do for yourself is listen to your own body. Believe it or not, your body is a very sophisticated machine with many powerful mechanisms for healing and physical fitness. The body is capable of sensing what nutrition it needs, then signaling the brain to crave those foods. The distinction between being healthy and unhealthy is when you satisfy cravings, not food addictions. A food addiction is different from a craving, because you only crave unhealthy foods because your brain has gotten accustom to the toxins, much like cigarettes. Being healthy is about learning to distinguish a food craving from an addiction and flushing your body of toxic, high calorie and low-nutrient food.
